Rambles.Race. More Rambles
I guess I'm keeping Connections at least till this summer. Once I get my posting I'm pretty certain that all blogging whims will be overruled by the need to get back to my loved ones and get decent rest. I hear residency can be hell... and even if I wished otherwise, blogging will become a thing of the past. This blog has been my constant companion through all sorts of times from 4 yrs ago... I know the posts here begin on Sept 2009, but it's in fact from an older blog that doesn't exist anymore.
I've realised a few things of late:
-I'm pretty readable with or without the blog
-So what if the facts are laid out for people to see?
-I don't have commitment issues. I have attachment issues. This blog staying on would be an excellent example.
-I think that's all actually :P
And to get to the point of this post:
THE WORLDS NEED
Ella Wheeler Wilcox
O many gods, so many creeds,
So many paths that wind and wind,
While just the art of being kind
Is all the sad world needs.
That's all we all want and need, isn't it? A bit of kindness.
It has been two months plus since I got back here and lots of things have happened. Things have a way of happening like that I've noticed, whether you expect them to or want them to or not. Another 8 mths till I can go home to people I love and I'm pretty certain this road's gonna be littered with all sorts of random events which make uni life all the sweeter. Four times the current drama looming on the horizon... God give us strength! :P
Right so that didnt make too much sense, but blame it on the slightly sleepy state the food has put me in.
And do you know what's as awesome as loving and caring for someone? It's being loved and cared for in return. Mushiness I know. Just a liddel homesick..
Oh btw, happy belated Halloween and Deepavali to all who celebrate :) Me? I celebrated both :) And erm, focus on the poem, 'cause the rambles wont make sense nyways. It's just an outlet for my slow dribble of thoughts.
Have a great day, all! :)

Kids
They have a crazy imagination and you wonder when your own world began shrinking to you and the people around you. Even a speck of dust leaves them amazed.
They tire you out so much you love sleep and bath time :)
That's all for now. Bub bye!!

A Reason
p/s: I used to be cynical about celebrating Mothers' and Fathers' and Valentines' Day and all those other days that so many of us think is 'commercialised' and 'cheesy'. Perhaps they are commercialised and cheesy, but they don't mean any less to me, because at the very least they give us a reason to be nicer to each other on these days.
That's what I think the world sorely needs... more reasons to be nice to each other.
Hope you guys have a great week ahead! :)

Courage and Determination. Herbs
Talking of courage, guess who tried making white sauce WITHOUT garlic? Hehe... turned out pretty decent though, thanks to the oregano, basil n bay leaf. And boy do basil and bay leaf have a BOLD taste. Completely unlike Western spices, but it's not nice to stereotype anyone or anything, even if it's just a bunch of herbs, so pretend I didn't say that, aite? ;)
Ooh-kay... too much talk about dried up leaves and stuff sprouting from the ground. Sleep deprivation talking here...
Good night, all. Am gonna eat and sleep and hopefully wake up in time to study :)

Alexandria
Disembarking from the van we were hit by the salty tang of the sea, and cold spittle rained on us from even 3 plus metres away.
Then we got closer to the water's edge. The fine spray and the way the droplets danced and shimmered as wave upon wave pounded on the cemented walls around the periphery of the city left us breathless. Breathless from her majestic power and also because we were running for cover!
Note : Running for cover was a futile attempt because we all got drenched anyway :P
The pounding of the waves was rhythmic and almost orchestrated, and the thunder of the waves drowned out all thought from us.
We waited a full 2 hours and more to watch the receding waves. That platform you see in the picture above had been submerged underwater the first time we got to there.
We could finally hear each other speak again but none of us did much talking for some reason.
This was our parting shot as we left to go to the library (No, not the original library by Alexander the Great, that one got sunk long ago!)
I love the shoreline formed by the crests of the waves, that huge white curve upon the sand.
I genuinely believe that if I had been an atheist, I would have succumbed to animistic beliefs after that day, for the sea truly seemed to have a soul of her own. The sea having a soul thing was much talked about after our trip, when our tongue-tied-ness had worn off, but one thing we all agreed on was this: never had any of us seen any other body of water with such character, such attitude before!
And our translator assured us that she was like this every single day. Such immense power, it was a trifle scary.
Yeah, we had a translator :), since the only decent word we knew collectively in Arabic was 'shukrat', which means thank you... and that wouldn't have gotten us very far!

Moving
sorry for myself - pathetically - because this 'move' has been looming over us these past 2 months. Just wanna get it over with, but still gotta do it right!
but beyond all that i still have my good friends i can depend on to brighten up my day - 7 memories =) - n my family, which change as it does while i'm away, stil gives me the sense of coming home everytime i talk to or see them.
so i AM moving, but my home's still the same =)

Pulling Through
How many times do I do this?
My heart is in tatters,
My tears are mere whispers,
Looking for another reason to smile from within.
A smile from within seems out of reach,
I scrub, i clean, i cookand wash,
I’ve yet to find my inner smile,
Though many a time i’ve gone the extra mile.
Love is a fairytale,
A lore of old that i’ve outgrown,
Blindfolded we try to pin on the donkey’s tail,
some get it right, others don’t
i don’t wish to play this game anymore.
I’m looking for a way out,
A way to find myself again,
innocence lost, happiness submerged,
I want to earth them all out again!
I’m pushing, i’m fighting,
And as i do my arms grow weary,
The waves and current guide me,
Carry me in gentle waves to the shore.
Now my chest is heaving,
My breath rumbles within,
I am gasping for golden air.
A gentle breeze touches my cheek,
The smell of grass and lavender ease my pain,
The call of a friend lifts the shroud,
I am home at last.
The innocence remains lost,
The submerged happiness a lesson learnt,
In their place is wisdom, love and God,
In their place is me, changed somewhat,
In their place is me, with the same bruised heart,
But I am whole, and i am home,
Thank you, dear God
